At Toronto Rehab we are committed to delivering exceptional health care every day. We also pride ourselves as an academic teaching hospital that provides students with exemplary learning opportunties, challenge and support our employees to be the best they can be, and enable our researchers to make the next big breakthroughs that will maximize life for people living with the effects of disability, illness and aging.
Measuring our performance, comparing our results to those achieved by other similar health care providers and monitoring our progress toward the achievement of our strategic goals are critical to continuous improvement and to the well-being of the people we serve. As a publicly funded institution, reporting our results to the people of Ontario is equally as important.
At Toronto Rehab, we use a variety of indicators to evaluate different aspects of our performance to get a balanced perspective of how we are doing. From the functional improvements our patients make during treatment to their perceptions about the care they receive from us, from the amount of external research funding we attract to whether or not students who train here would recommend Toronto Rehab to others, and from employee engagement and satisfaction to the state and condition of our balance sheet—we track how we measure up in these and other key areas to existing industry benchmarks so we can identify where we are performing well, where we need to improve and what we can learn from other high performing organizations.
